Back to Portland, OR

The next day after the reunion, we drove around for an hour looking for the church in Portland. We had directions, but somehow we weren't able to find it. We finally gave up and just listened to conference CDs as we drove to Bend, Or. Along the way we stopped off at Sahali Falls -- Beautiful!! The date was June 15 and there was still some snow on the ground. On the 16th we drove back to Sisters, Or. and shopped in the many lovely tourist traps they have there. I saw so many things I would like to buy. Luckily we still had a flight back to Missouri and I couldn't transport much, otherwise I might have spent 'way too much. We drove on up to Portland in the afternoon, passing Mt. Hood which is a tall volcano that is covered with snow all year I think. When we got to Portland we stayed with some church friends, Jerry and Camille Thompson, in Estacada. We met Camille in Olney, Illinois in 1976. Amy and their Scotty were born about the same time. Camille and her husband helped us move to Nashville later that year. It's interesting that we have remained good friends, only knowing one another such a short time. We had a wonderful time staying with them. The next post will tell a little about that stay.
