As some of you know, at least those of you who are family, I had my birthday this week. When I came home from work Alan had made a roast for dinner. A birthday "roast". Do you think he is trying to tell me something?? He also baked a cake and had it setting on the table with a couple of presents. I always have trouble thinking what to get him for his birthday, but he gets thoughtful gifts for me. After we ate I opened a couple of good CD's. One was Mormon Tabernacle Choir's new one and the other a John Bytheway fireside. Also he got me a book full of missionary experiences. I wonder if Aaron would be allowed to read it after I finish? Finally I opened a big present that weighed a ton. It turned out to be one of those marble statues of the Christus. I've got it on the bookcase in the living room now. It was a good day. Thanks to Laura for the "Birthday Girl" birthday card. I love all you guys.

Town-wide Yard Sales
but still smell very peppery.
Last Saturday was Salem's town-wide yard sale. It was also General Conference of course, so I had to get up and go to a few before going up to the church. We had a potluck dinner between sessions and then taught a temple prep class between too. It was a pretty busy day. The reason I thought I might mention the yard sales is that I was able to pick up a food dehydrator at one of them. I've been thinking I should get one for quite some time. I tried it on some red peppers and it worked really well. -- and it was pretty cheap. Yea!

New Pet?
What do you think of this? Dad found him (or her) on the front porch when he was moving some unused mulch out to the shed. He grabbed a glass jar and put it in there to show me. Luckily he knows I don't freak out at the sight of spiders (especially when they are behind glass). Unfortunately I couldn't get a good clear picture of the bottom of the spider due to the curvature of the jar.
