Food for Thought

I finished my reading for the next Sunday School lesson and decided that whenever I did that I would switch to the New Testament.  So this morning while reading I looked down at the table and thought a picture of my temporal food and my spiritual food might be in order.  It gets the day off to a good start.

Emily's First Birthday

We watched the kids the week Karen needed to go to Girls' Camp in June.  It's funny how "into" technology these little guys are at their tender ages.
Aaron's smart phone was always very popular.
Those little fingers came out every time Grandpa got out his computer.
Does this look comfortable to you??

The next morning after Karen got back from camp it was Emily's first birthday.  Despite being very tired Karen did a good job preparing for the special day.  Next week I'll have to find out how camp was for Amy.  She attended camp with her ward.

Emily enjoyed her own little cake.

Apparently getting messy doesn't bother her at all.
Big brother helped blow out the candle on her big cake.  It was delicious by the way.
Who wouldn't love a face like that?

Family Drama

Alan sent me this Baby Blues cartoon and I just have to include it on a blog post.  It doesn't sound like our lives now, but I can certainly relate to the drama that went on when all our kids were at home.  I have to really hand it to Rick Kirkman and Jerry Scott, the two men who write this strip.  They really understand the humor related to young families.

"Sea of Yummies"

I just finished a book that had a few recipes in it.  One was for Spritz cookies which is sort of like a butter cookie.  They sounded really good to me so I tried the recipe out this evening.  Alan said that if I put them into a Christmas tin people would think I had bought them.  Then we tasted them.  Nothing like store-bought!!  I took a picture and he said they looked like a "sea of yummies".  Funny guy.

Happy birthday to Andrew who turned three today!  And happy birthday to Amy whose birthday is tomorrow.  Two of my favorite people.  I'm sure Karen will post some pictures on her blog.  Amy may not be so anxious to advertise her birthday. (even though she is not old)

Change of subject -- Even as I type we have tree trimmers in our back yard cutting down the maple tree and trimming some of the overhanging oak limbs on the side of the house.  The oak work is for the safety of the house.  Alan doesn't really care much for maples.  He says that the roots are too close to the surface and cause problems and that the trees tend to rot from the inside.  Oh, well, farewell maple tree.  The main reason I feel bad to see it go is that it was a tiny thing when we moved in and now it's towering higher than the house.  Well, it isn't now.

They arrive with their big truck.

It scared me a little to see heavy limbs falling with one guy on the truck operating the bucket.  They seemed to know what they were doing though.
Whoa, there it goes.
