Karen's baby shower

We drove to Illinois this past weekend for Karen's baby shower. It was held at the church in Edwardsville; people from that area that we have known for some time were invited. It was fun to see some of those that we hadn't seen in a while. The decorations were good -- all set up as a "little lamb" theme. Karen received so many nice gifts from her friends. I didn't end up with very good pictures. How disappointing! I'm hoping Amy did better. She usually does. One picture shows some of the ladies making their banana splits. We did banana splits since that has been Karen's big craving the past month or so. You can also see the flower arrangement I made her, using baby socks for the rose buds. In another picture you can see Karen opening gifts. Jeanette is hanging the baby clothes Karen has received on the clothes line for all to see. The first picture shows Karen with a beautiful handmade blanket she was given.

Having nothing to do with the baby shower, Zach lost his top front tooth this week. He was very proud of it. It had been loose for quite some time, so he was happy to have it out. A new one is on the way!

We got a letter from Aaron today. It seems he has been e-mailing me regularly since he got to California, but was using the wrong address. Oh, well, at least we have it straightened out now. He is doing well. He says that he is very lucky to have started out in a very productive area. He's keeping very busy. Last year they got 616 baptisms and have set a goal for 1000 this year. "We'll get it," he said. I sent him Dad's and his brother and sisters' e-mail addresses as he said he didn't have them with him. So you should be hearing something from him before too long. As for his friends, you will have to write to him and wait for a letter. He's not allowed to e-mail anyone except family.

She will be missed

For those of you who knew her, I wanted you to know that Mayonne Gregory died on the morning of March 7, 2009. She had been battling cancer for some time. We went to the visitation last night; the funeral is today, but I am unable to get away from work to attend it. Many of her brothers and sisters and all of her children were there. It was nice to have an opportunity to meet some of them. Mayonne was one of the first members of the branch in this area. She was a good friend and will be missed by all that knew her.
