The Excitement Continues

There has been all together too much drama in our lives the past two weeks.  Monday of last week was our accident.  It seems like the whole of that week was tied up with the complications of that.  It was hard to think of other things really.  This past Monday we had an appointment with the VA in Columbia for a follow-up check on Alan's broken finger.  We drove up there for an appointment at 2:00 P.M. and were there for about three hours.  The doctor said that they needed to do surgery on the finger to get it set right and re-attach the tendon.  So we ran around during those three hours getting lab work, EKGs, pre-surgery paperwork, etc. done.  Then we checked into a hotel with no luggage and went back to the hospital the next morning at 8:30.  He was in surgery for about 2 hours and it came out well.  The doctor said that it went together a lot easier than she thought it would.  Well, that was what we prayed for so we are happy with it.  Alan said that the finger didn't hurt him last week, but it really does this week.  They had to put two pins through the finger; he says he has a frankenfinger.

This picture is a little fuzzy.  It's my arm which hurt only if I bumped it on something.  The ribs which are still sore didn't get a bruise.
We tried to take a picture that showed where we went when we went off the road.  This is it, although it doesn't show the depth of the fall.  It was about 12 feet  or so down.  Too bad we couldn't get the right angle but we felt not to go down there again.
A little different angle here.  You can see his shadow in this one.

Taken shortly after we got home from the surgery.  He was on the phone talking to someone about the insurance involved I think.  We call him "the Claw".  Can you believe my ER bills alone are over $4,700?  Thanks heaven for the VA coverage that Alan has!!
