Our Poor Car

Yes, our poor car.  We were only 1/2 mile from home when our car started to slide sideways on the snowy road.  It didn't matter how slowly we were going -- we were going to slide off the road.  Nothing we could do about it.  When the weather gets better so that I can revisit the site, I'll have to take a picture so everyone can see where we fell when we slid off the road.  It cost $350 to get it towed out of there because it was so deep down.  Anyway, here are a couple of pictures of our poor car today.

Lots of damage here in the front.  The passenger door won't open and the frame is bent in a couple of places.

I think the damage on the left hand of the back of the car happened when we slid through the opening and down into the culvert.

Eewwww, here is a picture of Alan's pinky finger on his right hand.  It actually looked worse than this picture shows.  The broken tendon near the first joint causes it to bend down while he is holding his finger straight.  There was also a broken bone in the same area.  We don't have a picture to show his broken sternum.  Strangely there was no bruise on his chest even though the big bone is fractured.  This is the main cause of his pain.  It hurts big time when he breathes deeply, hiccups, burps or coughs.  He has to make sure he takes good breaths though; if he doesn't it could lead to pneumonia which is dangerous in itself, but also can cause major pain from the coughing, etc.

There isn't much to show for my injuries.  Since my neck was sore, they put a collar on me for a while.  Alan took a picture for the blog.  The neck is a lot better now, but my ribs on the left side are still sore.

ACKKKKK!!! That finger is beyond disgusting. And also, we are all so grateful that the car is the thing that was the most damaged in this accident.
