Hello, Family
I don't know if this is anything you will be interested in, but I thought maybe I should keep up with the times.
We are making progress with the house. The kitchen is basically finished and it looks great! The dining room, front bathroom, and utility room floors are in. I repainted the dining room. I was just going to paint the extension, but somehow the color didn't exactly match and I ended up having to redo all of it (above the chair rail anyway). Actually, I'm glad it's done now. It looks much better. We still have the carpeting to do in our bedroom. I'm not sure when that will happen; we're waiting to hear from the carpeting people to see when they can come out. When they call, we will pull up the existing carpeting and Dad will put screws in the floor to get rid of the squeaks. He did that in the dining room and it really helped.
He's working on the basement too. It's the garage area actually. He's put in insulation in the walls and put up wall board so it looks more finished and will be warmer in Winter and cooler in summer (We hope!) He is then setting up his piano workshop on the side that has a higher ceiling. Hopefully he won't be hitting his head so often now.
We have taken out the garage door and installed a regular door in the back of the house. We have a big shed in back now too. The old one collapsed with the ice storm we had in the winter. This one is built sturdily by some Menonites in our area. Our kitchen cabinets are built by another Menonite family business. They all do good work.
We have Stake Conference in Lebanon this weekend (May 31-Jun 1), so we will be staying overnight there Saturday night. Then we are going on to Branson Sunday afternoon. We'll return home Wednesday. We come up to St. Louis on the 12th to catch a flight to Oregon. (We're traveling with David and Wanda) I'm not exactly sure when we come home. I think it's on a Wed. We'll call you and let you know when we get home.
Love,
Mom

Wow, the kitchen looks amazing! I can't believe how different the house is from when I was living there. I've got to say, the dishwasher may be my favorite part. One of the best inventions ever...
Hooray! I'm glad you got a blog. I need to start one but I keep waiting until I have something to report. My life is pretty dull right now. :)
Mom! That looks amazing! We need to come down for a visit just to hang out in the kitchen. That's GREAT!
